YUCATAN & ITS ROOTS
6 Days / 5 Nights
DAY 01. ARRIVAL – CITY TOUR:
Arrival transfer from the airport to the hotel. Excursion on the famous open-air sightseeing trucks with a tour guide. Enjoy a city tour to discover the majestic Paseo de Montejo, Parque de las Américas, the Historic Center, the Cathedral, the Government Palace, and other important landmarks.
DAY 02. UXMAL, KABAH OR CENOTE:
Located 80 km from Mérida, Uxmal showcases the remarkable Puuc architectural style, characterized by the geometric shapes of its buildings, smooth walls, and beautifully ornamented friezes. Most of the buildings at Uxmal belong to the Classic Maya period, with some dating to the Late Classic period. Chaac, the Maya rain god, is represented throughout many of the structures, including the Governor’s Palace, the Nunnery Quadrangle, and the Temple of the Magician.
Kabah features a quadrangle known as Codz Pop, meaning “rolled mat,” as well as the arch, Chaac masks, the Temple of the Columns, and the House of the Witch. The tour lasts approximately 7 hours and 30 minutes.
DAY 03. SANTA BARBARA THREE CENOTES ROUTE:
At 9:00 AM, departure to the famous cenote region of Yucatán known as Cuzamá. Today we will visit three cenotes. Transportation between the cenotes is provided by a traditional truck-style cart pulled by a horse along a railway track. Upon arrival at the first cenote, visitors will find all the necessary facilities, including life jackets, showers, a restaurant, and lockers for storing personal belongings. We will have time to enjoy activities at all three cenotes. After this activity, we will depart for lunch at the restaurant located at the tourist stop, famous for its exquisite Yucatecan cuisine.
DAY 04. CHICHÉN ITZÁ, MODERN WONDER OF THE WORLD, WITH IZAMAL:
At 8:00 AM, departure to Chichén Itzá, considered one of the most important archaeological sites of the Maya Empire. Visit its impressive temples and structures, including the Temple of Kukulkán, the Great Ball Court, the Sacred Cenote, the Astronomical Observatory, and the Temple of the Thousand Columns. Lunch will be served at a traditional restaurant, Xay-Beh, followed by a visit to Izamal. Known as the City of Hills and located in the center of the Yucatán Peninsula, Izamal is considered one of the oldest colonial cities in the region. Five major pyramids rise within the city, with the most important being Kinich Kakmó, along with Conejo, Kabul, and Izamatul. Izamal is considered a colonial jewel because its buildings are painted a distinctive yellow color. One of its main attractions is the Convent of Izamal, which was built over ancient Maya pyramids using stones from the original structures. The convent was founded by Fray Diego de Landa, who is historically known for destroying indigenous Maya writings. The tour lasts approximately 7 hours.
