4 DAYS / 3 NIGHTS

DAY 1. ARRIVAL IN MÉRIDA & CITY TOUR:
Upon arrival at Mérida International Airport, you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided city tour aboard the famous open-air sightseeing buses, offering a wonderful introduction to the history, culture, and architecture of Mérida. During the approximately 1 hour and 30-minute tour, discover the majestic Paseo de Montejo, Parque de las Américas, the Historic Center, Mérida Cathedral, the Government Palace, and other important landmarks throughout the city. Mérida was founded by the Spanish conquistador Francisco de Montejo on January 6, 1542, on the site of the ancient Maya city of T’hó. Long before the arrival of the Spanish, the Maya had established a thriving city in this location. Many of the stones from the ancient Maya settlement were later used in the construction of colonial buildings, including the Cathedral located in the main square, as well as other historic structures surrounding the Zócalo. Known as the “White City,” Mérida is renowned for its elegant colonial architecture, rich Maya heritage, and the magnificent Paseo de Montejo, where visitors can admire historic mansions, the Palacio Cantón, and the impressive Monumento a la Patria, among many other cultural treasures.

DAY 2. UXMAL, KABAH & CENOTE:
At 9:00 AM, depart Mérida for a full-day excursion to the archaeological sites of Uxmal and Kabah, followed by a visit to a beautiful cenote. Located approximately 80 kilometers from Mérida, Uxmal is one of the most impressive examples of Maya architecture in the Puuc region. Its magnificent buildings are distinguished by their smooth walls, elaborate stone mosaics, and beautifully decorated friezes. Most of the structures date from the Classic Maya period and showcase the extraordinary architectural and artistic achievements of this ancient civilization. Throughout Uxmal, visitors can admire important structures including the Governor’s Palace, the Nunnery Quadrangle, and the Pyramid of the Magician, as well as numerous representations of Chaac, the Maya rain god, whose distinctive masks decorate many of the buildings. The journey continues to Kabah, another remarkable Puuc archaeological site known for its elaborate architecture and impressive Chaac masks. Explore the Codz Pop Quadrangle, the famous arch, the Temple of the Columns, and the House of the Witch while learning about the history and significance of this ancient Maya city. The excursion also includes a visit to a beautiful cenote, providing an opportunity to experience one of the Yucatán Peninsula’s most distinctive natural wonders. Lunch is included during the tour. The excursion lasts approximately 7 hours and 30 minutes before returning to Mérida.

DAY 3. CHICHÉN ITZÁ & IZAMAL:
Today, depart Mérida for Chichén Itzá, one of the most important archaeological sites of the ancient Maya civilization and recognized as one of the New Seven Wonders of the Modern World. Explore this extraordinary archaeological complex and discover some of its most impressive monuments, including the magnificent Temple of Kukulcán, the Great Ball Court, the Sacred Cenote, the ancient astronomical observatory known as El Caracol, and the impressive Temple of the Thousand Columns. Continue to the famous Ik Kil Cenote, one of the most spectacular natural cenotes in the Yucatán Peninsula. Surrounded by lush vegetation and dramatic limestone walls, this cenote offers a unique opportunity to appreciate the natural beauty of the region. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before continuing to the charming colonial city of Izamal, known as the “City of Three Cultures” because of the remarkable blend of its ancient Maya heritage, Spanish colonial history, and modern Mexican culture. After exploring Izamal, continue back to Mérida for your overnight stay.
