ITINERARY:

SUNDAY: TAORMINA AREA

Arrive at Catania Airport. After having collected your luggage, OPTIONAL group transfer to the hotel. On this day there are no planned activities, the rooms will be ready after 14:00 and enjoy the city. At the hotel you will find the program. Dinner and overnight.

MONDAY: ETNA (INCLUDED) TAORMINA WALKING TOUR (OPTIONAL min 10 pax)

Breakfast in the hotel and departure with the tour escort to the Mt. Etna, the highest peak of Sicily and the most active volcano in Europe. The territory surrounding the volcano constitutes the “Park of Etna”, one of the largest protected areas in Italy: You will be astonished about the great variety of vegetation and landscapes that we will meet along the way before arriving at the “Silvestri Craters” (about 1.900 mt). From here on you will have the optional excursion by jeep and cableway (extra cost). After having tasted some local Sicilian speciality come back in hotel.

TAORMINA WALKING TOUR (OPTIONAL): Walking you will discover the amazing town of Taormina, hear tales about the history and the evolution of Sicilian culture. Pass by beautiful old buildings, including the 15th-century Palazzo Corvaja and an ancient Greek Roman theatre the 2nd largest classical theatre in Sicily (Admission fee not included). Discover the medieval area of the town with its narrow strest and old shops. Dinner and overnight in hotel.

TUESDAY: SYRACUSE

Breakfast in the hotel and departure to Syracuse, one of the most interesting archaeological sites of the island with its Archeological Park (extra cost) the Roman Amphitheatre, the Greek Theatre, the Ear of Dionysus, the Cave of the Cordari, Island of Ortigia, the most ancient nucleus of the city with its stunning cathedral. Re-entry in hotel. Dinner and overnight.

WEDNESDAY: GODFATHER TOUR – CEFALU’ – PALERMO
Breakfast in the hotel. Drive to Forza D’Agrò a charming village located on a hill overlooking Taormina and you will have a tour with an eye to the cinema visiting the villages made famous by the film The Godfather Walking along the narrow streets of this small town, in addition to the breathtaking views, it will be possible to admire the Durazzesco arch and the Cathedral, a place chosen to set one of the most romantic scenes of the Godfather’s film, the wedding of Micheal Corleone. From the Panoramic Square you can enjoy an extraordinary view of the coast. After visiting this little gem, continue for Savoca. This village is famous because here have been shouted some of the famous parts of the movie “The Godfather”, directed by Francis Ford Coppola. The buildings and the monuments of the movie are still here, like the famous Bar Vitelli, the same bar used to shoot. On to Cefalù where we will start excursion visiting the Piazza del Duomo which stretches out below the Cathedral with its splendid mosaics and which is surrounded by a range of splendid palaces , walk through Corso Ruggero, the main street, lined with a wide range of boutiques and built over the ancient Roman street, and head then to the ancient lavatory.. Drive to Palermo , dinner and overnight in Palermo.

THURSDAY: HIGHLIGHTS OF PALERMO & MONREALE – AND “TEATRO MASSIMO”
Breakfast in the hotel. Departure with your tour guide for a guided tour of Palermo and Monreale. We start the tour with Monreale, a beautiful town on the slopes of Monte Caputo overlooking Palermo. Monreale was named after the numerous citrus groves that once lined the fertile valley of La Conca d’Oro. Walk with your tour guide to Monreale Cathedral, which is considered one of the most beautiful Norman buildings in the world. Before continuing our visit to Palermo historical centre we will have a stop for an arancina tasting. The tour continues to Palermo, where you can admire the Teatro Massimo, the third largest theatre in Europe, also famous in The Godfather for the murder of Al Pacino’s daughter . Our visit will go on via the famous ‘u Capo’ market” to the Cathedral and visit. Then walk to ‘I Quattro canti’ and short time for shopping. Return to the hotel, Dinner and overnight.

FRIDAY: AGRIGENTO – TAORMINA AREA
Breakfast in the hotel. First morning drive to Agrigento and start to visit the Temples’ Valley, including the Temple of Juno, the Temple of Concorde (one of the best preserved Doric temples in the whole Greek world), the Temple of Hercules , the Temple of Castor and Pollux. Continue to Taormina area, Dinner and Overnight in hotel.
Saturday you can choose between 3 different suggestions:

SATURDAY: OPTIONAL CATANIA – ALCANTARA GORGES & MOTTA CAMASTRA ( min. 15 pax )

Breakfast in the hotel. Suggested itinerary Departure for Catania and visit to Piazza del Duomo and the Cathedral of Saint Agatha, the city’s patron saint. Don’t miss the Elephant Fountain, a symbol of Catania. Continue along Via Etnea, a lively main street full of shops, cafés, and historic buildings, offering an authentic and vibrant atmosphere. Proceed to Castello Ursino, the medieval castle that today houses museums and exhibitions showcasing Catania’s history. You should also visit the Fish Market (La Pescheria), a traditional market perfect for sampling local products and experiencing the authentic atmosphere. For lunch, we suggest Sicilian specialties or street food such as arancini, pasta alla Norma, or fresh fish.. Continuing to the Alcantara Gorges, discover the wild nature and the distinctive volcanic walls (basalt columns) of the canyon, which are the main attraction of the botanical and geological park. The lush river vegetation, combined with citrus trees on the terraces, creates bucolic and relaxing landscapes. You can also visit the village of Motta Camastra, which has been used as a filming location for some scenes of the film “the Godfather part III”—particularly those showing Michael Corleone walking under the protection of his bodyguards. SATURDAY: TAORMINA COAST TO COAST BY BOAT (OPTIONAL ) no minimum pax

Breakfast in the hotel. In the morning Optional Excursion “TAORMINA COAST TO COAST BY BOAT”. On this tour you will discover the natural beauty of the coastline Giardini/Naxos-Taormina. The meeting will be at the port of Giardini Naxos and you can ask the rates of the transfer in hotel with supplement You will start the tour in a comfortable characteristic boat (max. 12 persons), to explore the Ionian Coast. From here you’ll have a fantastic view of mount. Etna and its area’s most breathtaking sights. On the way you can discover caves, including the visit of the well known “Grotta Azzurra” (due to weather conditions and currents), rock formations and the beautiful Nature Reserve of Isola Bella. (*) Pickup/end of the excursion in Giardini Naxos Port – The excursion is subjected to reconfirm according to weather conditions. Overnight in hotel.

SATURDAY: LIPARI & VULCANO ISLANDS (OPTIONAL) no minimum pax
Breakfast in the hotel. Aeolian islands are the patrimony of humanity as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000. Departure by bus with a
tour leader to the port of Milazzo and proceed by private motorboat to the island of Lipari. Stop at the ground with the opportunity to visit the old town with the archaeological park and the cathedral. Free shopping time in the local shops on the island. Back on board and sail along the “Faraglioni” and the “Horse’s Cave”. Continue by boat to Vulcano and stop on the island with the possibility to make sulfurous mud baths in a dedicated area paying the entrance fee. Mud prohibited to pregnant women and children. After returning by sea, sailing along the coast viewing the “Rock of the Little Mermaid”. Eco-tax to be paid on board the bus not included. Overnight.
