Colombia – Coffee Experiences

9 Days/ 8 Nights

Itinerary:

Day 01 – Bogotá
Individual arrival in Bogotá. Welcome by our local guide and transfer to the hotel.

Day 02 – Bogotá – Fusagasuga – Bogotá
Today you will visit a Coffee Hacienda. Your first stop is a nursery garden for coffee plants. Then you will cross the bloomy plantation of the arabic Coffee. Learn all about the manufacturing process to the point of calcination. Enjoy a fresh cup of coffee! The hacienda produces as well a delicious coffee liqueur. Transfer back to Bogotá.

Day 03 – Bogotá – Pereira
The day will start with a half day city tour to the famous historical center of La Candelaria with its colonial houses, the Plaza Bolivar, the Cathedral, the Capitol and other historic buildings. Afterwards you will visit the famous Gold Museum of Bogotá. Flight to Pereira. Transfer to the Hotel.

Day 04 – Coffee Triangle
Transfer to a property of an old-established family, who practise till this day the traditional coffee cultivation. Lern all about coffee, from planting to rosting! At the end of the tour enjoy a delicous cup of coffee on a terrace within the plantation with a superb panoramic view.

Day 05 – Cocora Valley & Salento & Filandia
Drive to the Valle del Cocora. This area is affected by a plurality of camauba palms. These palms can reach the height of 60 meters. Finally visit the typical villages of Salento and Filandia.

Day 06 – Pereira – Santa Marta
Flight via Bogotá to Santa Marta, located on the Caribbean coastline of Colombia. Transfer to the hotel.

Day 07 – Santa Marta
First you will visit the village Minca in the midst of a coffee plantation. Close vegetation, numerous waterfalls and the diversity of the birds reflects the landscape of the Sierra Nevada. About noon you will be invited to a Coffee Hacienda. Learn more about the cultivation near the ocean and the different alternatives to cultivate coffee in Colombia.

Day 08 – Santa Marta
Day at leisure for own activities.
Optional: Visit the National Park of Tayrona around 30 minutes drive away from Santa Marta. This full day excursion includes walking-tours, bathing in the carribean sea and relaxing in the white sandy beach.

Day 09 – Santa Marta
Transfer to the airport and international flight back home, or start of extension program in Cartagena.
