Chile – Astronomic Journey

9 Days/8 Nights

Itinerary:

Day 01 – Santiago de Chile
Upon arrival in Santiago, transfer to the hotel. Sightseeing tour through the contrasting capital, including San Francisco Church, the central market, the pre-Columbian museum and the viewpoint of Cerro San Cristóbal.

Day 02 – Santiago – Santa Cruz
Full day excursion to the Colchagua Valley including visit of two wineries, tour and winetasting. A fascinating stargazing in the observatory of vineyard Santa Cruz is waiting for the guests (transfers on private basis; tour, winetasting and observatory SIC).

Day 03 – Santa Cruz – Santiago – La Serena – Elqui Valley
Flight to La Serena, located in the north of Santiago and transfer to the hotel in the Elqui Valley. In the evening and on optional base guests can go stargazing at the hotel’s own observatory Elqui Domos (SIC).

Day 04 – Elqui Valley
Excursion to the mystical and fascinating Elqui Valley including a visit of a Pisco distillery with guided tour and taste. After a stop in the village Horcón, famous for beautiful handicrafts, guests continue to Vicuña, the capital of the Elqui Valley to visit the Mamalluca observatory for stargazing.

Day 05 – Elqui Valley – La Serena – Calama – San Pedro
Transfer to La Serena and flight to Calama via Santiago. Guests will be taken to Hotel Alto Atacama in San Pedro de Atacama. There they have the possibility to choose from the excursions program of the hotel.

Day 06 – San Pedro de Atacama
Excursion example: Visit to the Salar de Atacama and the lagoons of Miscanti and Meñiques. In the evening guests could get an introduction to astronomy and look into the starry sky to discover the galaxy.

Day 07 – San Pedro de Atacama
Excursion example: Visit to the hissing, bubbling and steaming geysers of El Tatio. With a little luck guests can watch Vicuñas, the wild relatives of llamas. On the way back guests can enjoy a relaxing bath in the beautiful hot springs of Baños de Puritama.

Day 08 – San Pedro de Atacama
Excursion example: Guests might enjoy the excellent spa options like massages, Finnish sauna, Turkish bath, indoor & outdoor hot tubs. Or they choose an active tour discovering the glowing Valley of the Moon by bike at sunset.

Day 09 – San Pedro – Calama – Santiago
Transfer to Calama and flight to Santiago. End of the roundtrip and homebound flight.
