ITINERARY:
Day 1 – Montevideo
Arrival at the Montevideo airport and transfer to the hotel. Time to relax and settle in after your journey.
Day 2 – Montevideo
Begin your Uruguayan adventure with a guided city tour of Montevideo. Visit the historic center, Independence Square, the Solis Theater, and the old market hall. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided tour and wine tasting at Artesana, a boutique winery known for its award-winning blends.
Day 3 – Montevideo
Participate in a lively Tambores workshop at the Carnival Museum with the female percussion group “La Melaza.” Learn about the cultural heritage of Candombe music and the traditional drum rhythms that define Uruguay’s vibrant spirit.
Day 4 – Montevideo – La Paloma
Depart for the charming coastal town of La Paloma. En route, visit the women’s artisanal fishing community of APALCO to learn about their way of life and sustainable practices. Enjoy a delicious lunch featuring fresh, local ingredients at their restaurant Cocina de La Barra. Continue to La Paloma for an overnight stay.
Day 5 – La Paloma – Cabo Polonio – La Paloma
Full-day excursion to Cabo Polonio, a remote and rustic fishing village surrounded by dunes and ocean views. Travel by authorized 4×4 trucks to reach this unique destination, home to one of South America’s largest sea lion colonies. Explore the village’s bohemian charm at your leisure before returning to La Paloma in the evening.
Day 6 – La Paloma – Maldonado – Punta del Este
Journey toward the glamorous coastal resort of Punta del Este. Along the way, stop in Pueblo Edén and visit the olive plantation Finca Babieca. Take a guided tour through the groves and learn about the olive oil production process from branch to bottle. Enjoy a tasting of olive oils and wines paired with local cheeses and homemade bread.
Day 7 – Punta del Este
Enjoy a scenic city tour of Punta del Este, visiting highlights such as the Ralli Museum, Punta Ballena, and Casapueblo, the stunning cliffside house and art studio of Uruguayan artist Carlos Páez Vilaró. Afternoon at leisure to explore the beaches or vibrant marina area.
Day 8 – Punta del Este – Valentines
Travel inland to Estancia Los Plátanos, a traditional Uruguayan ranch. Experience authentic gaucho life with opportunities to watch or participate in rural tasks such as horseback riding or cattle work. A hearty country lunch is included.
Day 9 – Valentines
Visit Cerro Chato, a historic town known as the first place in Uruguay where women exercised their right to vote. Explore this culturally significant site and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before returning to the estancia for dinner and relaxation.
Day 10 – Valentines – Minas
Transfer to Cerro Místico Eco Hotel in Minas, a serene eco-lodge set on 50 hectares of parkland, canyons, and native forest. Enjoy activities such as trekking, guided nature walks, 4×4 excursions, or simply unwind by the pool or in the library. Lunch and dinner included.
Days 11–12 – Minas
Leisure days to enjoy the tranquility of Cerro Místico. Participate in the lodge’s outdoor activities, nature workshops, or relax amid the scenic surroundings. Lunch and dinner included each day.
Day 13 – Minas – Montevideo
Transfer to the airport in Montevideo for your homebound flight.
