Best of Peru & the Amazon

12 Days / 11 Nights

Day 1 – Lima

Arrival in Lima, the capital of Peru. Remainder of the day at leisure to relax or explore the city on your own.

Day 2 – Lima – Cusco – Yucay

Morning flight to Cusco and transfer to the Sacred Valley. Visit the Chinchero community and its colorful Sunday market, then continue to El Mirador de Racchi for panoramic views of the valley. Enjoy a typical lunch in a local home before arriving in Yucay.

Day 3 – Yucay

Morning at leisure. Optional excursions include visiting the Pisac Market, rafting on the Urubamba River, biking through the Sacred Valley, or hiking from Ollantaytambo to Cachicata. In the afternoon, visit the impressive ruins of Ollantaytambo.

Day 4 – Yucay – Machu Picchu – Cusco

Full-day excursion by Vistadome train to the legendary Incan citadel of Machu Picchu. Enjoy a guided tour of the ruins and learn about the site’s history and mysteries. Return by bus and train to Cusco.

Day 5 – Cusco

Half-day city tour of Cusco, where ancient Incan heritage blends with colonial architecture. Visit nearby archaeological sites, including Sacsayhuamán. Afternoon at leisure to stroll through the charming streets and plazas.

Day 6 – Cusco – Puno

Full-day panoramic journey to Puno on the shores of Lake Titicaca (seat-in basis). En route, visit Andahuaylillas, known as the “Sistine Chapel of America,” the Temple of Wiracocha in Racchi, and Puka Pukara. Lunch included.

Day 7 – Puno – Lima

Excursion on Lake Titicaca (seat-in basis) to the floating islands of Uros and the traditional Taquile Island. Learn about the islanders’ ancient fishing traditions and Inca terracing techniques. Lunch included. Transfer to Juliaca Airport and flight to Lima.

Day 8 – Lima

City tour of Lima including the historic San Francisco Convent and the Larco Herrera Museum, which showcases the world’s largest private collection of pre-Columbian art.

Day 9 – Lima – Iquitos

Flight to Iquitos, gateway to the Amazon rainforest. Enjoy a brief city orientation before traveling 40 km down the Amazon River by boat (seat-in) to reach Ceiba Tops Lodge. Afternoon hike in the nearby primary rainforest. Lunch and dinner included.

Day 10 – Iquitos

Morning boat excursion on the Amazon River to spot dolphins and visit a Yagua Indian village. In the afternoon, visit the nearby town of Indiana for a glimpse of local life. Full board included.

Day 11 – Iquitos

Boat transfer to ExplorNapo Lodge for breakfast. Walk along the Canopy Walkway suspended high above the forest floor, then visit the “ReNuPeRu” Ethnobotanical Garden, home to over 240 medicinal plants. Full board included.

Day 12 – Iquitos – Lima

Return by boat to Iquitos and fly back to Lima. End of the tour and departure flight.
