Peru – Home Stays
11 Days/ 10 Nights
Itinerary:
Day 01 – Lima
Arrival to Lima and hotel transfer.
Day 02 – Lima – Cusco – Sacred Valley
Flight to Cusco and transfer to the Sacred Valley. Welcome ceremony to the Andes with a Shaman. Visit of Awanakancha, a weaving cooperative, where you can see traditional weavers, Llamas, Alpacas, Vicunas and Guanacos.
Day 03 – Sacred Valley
Transfer to Ollantaytambo. Take the Vistadome train towards Aguas Calientes and arrive to the sacred citadel of Machu Picchu. Explore the lost city of the Inca on a guided visit of the ruin site. Free time at the site to stroll around.
Day 04 – Sacred Valley (Amaru Village)
Visit the famous Pisac market. Continue to the local community of the Amaru village. Welcome by the local community with typical flowers and oblation to Mother Earth (Pachamama). Learn about natural dying techniques and continue with a demonstration of the process. Hands-on weaving with members of the community. Lunch and dinner included. Overnight at a local house in the Amaru village.
Day 05 – Amaru Village – Huayllafara
Full day trekking tour (6-7 hours) from Amaru to the community of Huayllafara. On this trek you will reach an altitude of 4200 metres above sea level and you will pass lagoons and fascinating lookouts on the Andean panorama. Lunch is included. Dinner and overnight at a local house in Huayllafara.
Day 06 – Huayllafara – Cusco
Welcome by the local community, consisting of around 40 families. Learn about agricultural techniques and crops grown by the villagers. Use ancient tools and help the villagers with their daily work. After lunch guests will return to Cusco.
Day 07 – Cusco
Morning tour of Cusco, ancient capital of the Inca Empire and South America’s archaeological heart. Visit the most important landmarks of both the Incan and the Colonial times: the Cathedral, Qoricancha (Temple of the Sun), the Plaza de Armas and the historical centre.
Day 08 – Cusco – Raqchi – Puno
Morning departure towards Raqchi, a small Andean community. Presentation on local ceramics will be done by the community. After lunch visit the Racchi archaeological site, a temple to the Incan God Viracocha. Afterwards, continue to Puno (Seat-in basis), located at Lake Titicaca.
Day 09 – Puno – Amantani Island
Start your tour of Lake Titicaca with a visit to the famous floating Islands of the Uros. Lunch included. Continue to the Island of Amantani, welcome by the local villagers to their houses. Dinner and overnight at the local homes. Meet again for a dancing activity and dress up like the locals (Seat-in basis).
Day 10 – Amantani Island – Puno
After a traditional breakfast, travel by boat to the Taquile Island, famous for the knitting men and the weaving women (Seat-in basis). After a visit and lunch with typical local dishes, return to Puno.
Day 11 – Puno – Lima
In the morning, visit the Chullpas of Sillustani, an archaeological site with grave towers of different cultures. Visit the home of a local family and learn about their lifestyle. Flight to Lima for your individual homebound flight.
