10 Days/ 9 Nights 

Itinerary 

Day 1 Bogotá

Individual arrival at Bogotá. Welcome at the airport and transfer to your hotel.

Day 2 Bogotá – Cali

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Cali. Upon arrival, you head to Kilómetro 18, this is a rural area, characterized by its rich biodiversity, cold climate, and humid forests, located at the highest point of the road that connects Cali with the Port of Buenaventura.

Day 3 La Florida Park

After breakfast you will start birding at La Florida Park, a wetland area and an excellent place to find the secretive and endemic Bogotá Rail. Further bird species are the Apolinar’s Wren, Silvery-throated Spinetail, Yellow-hooded Blackbird and small numbers of Spot-flanked Gallinule. Rufous-browed Conebills can also be found occasionally in the surrounding Eucalyptus trees.

Day 4 San Cipriano & Esclarete Natural Reserve

You will go on a full-day excursion to San Cipriano. Enjoy a scenic drive from Cali to this quaint village in the lowlands of Cauca Valley with the nearby community reserve. This protected haven with both primary and secondary forests, is perfect for species like the Five-coloured Barbet, the Choco Screech Owl, the Saffron-headed Parrot and the Purplechested Hummingbird. Then, return to your Lodge in Cali.

Day 5 Anchicayá Reserve

Today, visit the Anchicayá Reserve under 2 hours away from Cali, along a scenic road leading to the Pacific Ocean. Discover the enchanting home of Doña Dora, which features an array of feeders that attract a dazzling assortment of hummingbirds and tanagers, providing unparalleled opportunities for both relaxation and photography. Here, the convergence of Andean species with those from the lush wetland forests of the Chocó biogeographic region creates a unique and vibrant avian spectacle.

Day 6 Cali – Pereira

You will be transferred early in the morning to Pereira for birdwatching in the afternoon at the Otún-Quimbaya Flora and Fauna Sanctuary on the western slope of the Central Cordillera.

Day 7 Pereira (Otún Quimbaya Sanctuary)

After breakfast, visit the Otún Quimbaya Sanctuary again, to listen to the sounds of the Howler Monkeys and search for rare birds including the endemic Cauca Guan and Multi-colored Tanager. With some luck you may also observe impressive Red-ruffed Fruitcrows, as well as Andean Motmots, White-naped Brush-finches and White-capped Tanagers

Day 8 Pereira – Manizales

Early morning transfer to Manizales and the Rio Blanco Reserve, one of the best birding sites in Colombia. It is an area of Cloud Forest with a high biodiversity and it protects numerous endangered species. It is the habitat of 362 bird species, including 13 endemic ones. After, you will be taken to your hotel in Manizales.

Day 9 Manizales – Bogotá

Visit the Hacienda El Bosque, located just an hour from Manizales and renowned for its expansive high-Andean forests with meadows used for livestock and potato cultivation. The Hacienda offers delightful traditional regional cuisine and features well-maintained trails that provide an enjoyable bird watching experience. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to Pereira airport for your flight to Bogotá.

Day 10 Bogotá

End of this extraordinary journey. Transfer to the airport for your individual homebound flight.
