Itinerary:
Day 01 – Quito
Arrival to Quito. Surrounded by snow-capped mountain peaks, Quito is a city offering the best possible blend of Old World charm and modern sophistication.
Day 02 – Quito
Enjoy a sightseeing tour of the city of Quito to get a first impression of its many religious and cultural sites. Visit a photographer’s workshop to learn techniques for capturing images in different ways and styles.
Day 03 – Quito – Mindo
Drive to the small subtropical town of Mindo. The nature reserve Bosque Protector Mindo-Nambillo is home to toucans, parrots, monkeys, and even big cats — perfect subjects for photography enthusiasts.
Day 04 – Mindo – Otavalo
Before sunrise, explore the surrounding area to photograph a variety of birds and amphibians in the early daylight. On the way to Otavalo, make several stops to capture the unique flora and fauna of the region.
Day 05 – Otavalo
Visit the famous handicraft market of Otavalo — a vibrant opportunity to photograph the colorful community and its lively marketplace. Continue to the crater lake Laguna Cuicocha, located 3,000 meters above sea level.
Day 06 – Otavalo – Quito – Amazon Region
Transfer to Quito and fly to Lago Agrio. Continue by motorized canoe to the Cuyabeno Lodge for a 3-night stay (full board included). In the evening, take an exploratory tour to observe wildlife and photograph the Amazon sunset.
Day 07 – Amazon Region
Walk through the terra firme forest with a naturalist guide who will explain the local wildlife and forest ecosystem. Take a dugout canoe trip through the flooded igapó forest to spot monkeys and tropical birds.
Day 08 – Amazon Region
Visit the Siona Indigenous Village to learn how locals prepare the traditional “Casabe.” In the evening, enjoy a night canoe excursion to spot caimans, snakes, and nocturnal birds.
Day 09 – Amazon Region – Quito
Enjoy sunrise birdwatching — a perfect opportunity for final Amazon photos. Return by canoe to Lago Agrio and fly back to Quito. In the evening, visit the historical city center and capture beautiful nighttime photos.
Day 10 – Quito – Cotopaxi National Park
Ride the highest cableway in South America for panoramic photos of Quito and its surroundings. Continue to Cotopaxi National Park, one of Ecuador’s most scenic ecological reserves.
Day 11 – Cotopaxi National Park
Walk near the shallow Laguna de Limpiopungo at nearly 4,000 meters altitude. Visit Quilotoa Lagoon, a spectacular crater lake — one of Ecuador’s most photographed natural wonders.
Day 12 – Cotopaxi – Quito – Galapagos Islands
Transfer to Quito and fly to the Galapagos Islands. On Santa Cruz Island, visit the Twin Craters, the giant tortoises at El Chato, and the famous lava tunnels. Lunch at a typical hacienda and dinner at the hotel.
Day 13 – Galapagos Islands
Full-day boat excursion to one of the islands: North Seymour, South Plazas, Bartholomew, Santa Fe, or Dragon Hill on Santa Cruz Island. Lunch included.
Day 14 – Galapagos Islands
Walk to Tortuga Bay, one of the longest white-sand beaches in the archipelago. Free time for swimming, snorkeling, or relaxing. Transfer to Isabela Island for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 15 – Galapagos Islands
Depending on weather conditions, visit Sierra Negra Volcano or the wetlands of Isabela. After lunch, continue to Las Tintoreras. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 16 – Galapagos Islands – Quito/Guayaquil
Transfer to Baltra Airport and flight to Guayaquil to connect with your international flight.
