Boutique Tour – Haciendas in Ecuador

10 Days/ 9 Nights 

Itinerary: 

Day 01 – Quito
Arrival to Quito. Situated in a circle of mountainous peaks of the Andes, Quito has one of the most magnificent settings in the world. Welcome at the airport and transfer to the hotel.

Day 02 – Quito – Otavalo
Experience the colourful history of colonial Quito during a city tour. Visit the middle of the world monument, Mitad del Mundo, where the southern and northern hemispheres meet. Continue to Otavalo. Dinner and overnight at a Hacienda.

Day 03 – Otavalo
Visit South America’s largest street market filled with colourful woven fabrics, hand-carved jewellery, and delicious local cuisine. Continue to the small village of Peguche, home to some of the best weavers in Ecuador. Dinner and overnight at the Hacienda.

Day 04 – Otavalo – Cotopaxi
Embark on a fascinating drive along the “Avenue of Volcanoes.” Visit Hacienda La Alegría, a working dairy farm set amidst great Andean landscapes. After lunch, continue to a beautiful Hacienda for dinner and overnight.

Day 05 – Province of Cotopaxi
Drive to Cotopaxi National Park, home to the perfectly symmetrical cone of the Cotopaxi volcano. Enjoy a scenic hike to Limpiopungo Lagoon for breathtaking views of the volcano. Lunch at Hacienda San Agustín de Callo, which preserves many aspects of its Spanish colonial heritage. Dinner and overnight at the Hacienda.

Day 06 – Province of Cotopaxi – Patate
Morning visit to a local indigenous handicraft market. Continue to the emerald green crater lagoon of Quilotoa — from the rim of the crater, admire snow-capped volcanoes in the distance. Drive to Patate for dinner and overnight.

Day 07 – Patate – Riobamba
Transfer to Riobamba, passing through some of Ecuador’s most beautiful landscapes. En route visit Baños, the “Gateway to the Oriente,” an idyllic town surrounded by lush green mountains, waterfalls, and thermal springs. Stop at the small indigenous village of Salasaca, home to the Kichwa community. Dinner and overnight at an atmospheric Hostería.

Day 08 – Riobamba – Cuenca
Enjoy a train ride to the famous Devil’s Nose — one of the world’s most spectacular railway journeys through stunning Andean scenery. Continue to Cuenca, stopping to visit Ecuador’s largest Inca site, the ruins of Ingapirca. Overnight at a hotel.

Day 09 – Cuenca – Guayaquil
Morning city tour of Cuenca. Explore cobblestone streets, charming plazas, and historic churches. Visit a Panama hat factory before continuing to Guayaquil. Overnight at a hotel.

Day 10 – Guayaquil
Optional 2.5-hour city tour through Ecuador’s largest city, exploring the most interesting parts of this tropical, bustling Pacific metropolis. End of the roundtrip and transfer to the airport for your homebound flight.
