ITINERARY:

Day 1 – Bogotá

Arrival in Bogotá, Colombia’s lively capital. Meet your local English-speaking guide and transfer to your hotel.

Day 2 – Bogotá

Start your exploration with a visit to the renowned Gold Museum, home to one of the most impressive collections of pre-Columbian gold artifacts in the world. Continue through the colonial district of La Candelaria, then travel to Zipaquirá to discover the breathtaking Salt Cathedral, a unique underground church built inside a salt mine, 2,652 meters above sea level.

Day 3 – Bogotá – Honda

Depart for the colonial city of Honda (approx. 4 hours). Founded in 1539, Honda was once a key trading hub for Spanish, English, French, and German merchants. Stroll through its charming colonial center and admire the “City of Bridges,” named for the 25 bridges crossing its rivers and streams.

Day 4 – Hacienda Nápoles – Puerto Triunfo

Travel to La Dorada on the banks of the Magdalena River and visit the infamous Hacienda Nápoles, once owned by Pablo Escobar. Explore this vast estate, now transformed into a family-friendly park surrounded by tropical scenery. Continue to Puerto Triunfo for an overnight stay.

Day 5 – Rio Claro Nature Reserve

Enjoy a full-day excursion in the Natural Reserve of Río Claro, a pristine tropical forest with crystal-clear waters. Take a refreshing swim in the river, spot exotic birds, or hike through lush trails surrounded by limestone canyons. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon.

Day 6 – Honda – Medellín

Drive to Medellín, the modern and vibrant capital of Antioquia. Discover the city’s transformation on a guided tour featuring the Antioquia Museum, showcasing works by the famous artist Fernando Botero. Ride the MetroCable, Medellín’s aerial cable car system, for panoramic views of the “City of Eternal Spring.”

Day 7 – Medellín – Cartagena

Flight to Cartagena, Colombia’s Caribbean gem. Spend the afternoon exploring the city’s historic walled center, filled with colorful streets, colonial balconies, and lively plazas.

Day 8 – Cartagena

City tour including a visit to the Convent of La Popa, a photo stop at Fort San Felipe, and a guided walk through Cartagena’s picturesque Old Town. Later, transfer to the nearby fishing village La Boquilla, where you’ll glide through mangrove tunnels by dugout canoe, discovering the unique coastal ecosystem.

Day 9 – Cartagena

Day at leisure for your own exploration or relaxation. Optional full-day excursion to the Rosario Islands, an idyllic coral archipelago surrounded by turquoise waters (approx. 2-hour boat ride).

Day 10 – Cartagena

Transfer to the airport for your return flight or extension program.
